PREDICT: Biomarkers to predict response to treatment of Protein Losing Nephropathy (PLN)
OpenGoal:
Investigate whether biomarker RNA profiles can predict response to AR blockers for proteinuria in dogs with PLN.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Dogs with chronic proteinuria (UPC >0.5) for which pre- and post-renal causes have been excluded (UPC >0.5 confirmed on at least two separate occurrences >2 weeks apart)
- Dogs should have been started on a low protein diet (</=4g protein/100kcal) and fish oil (60mg/kg of combined DHA and EPA daily) at least two weeks prior to enrollment in the study
Study Schedule:
- Day 0: Physical exam, CBC, Chem, 3V CXR (if murmur), 4Dx, AUS, Enrollment paperwork, Exosome analysis, start Telmisartan
- Day 7: PE, Chem, BP, exosome analysis
- Day 28-30: PE, Chem, UA/UPC, BP, exosome analysis, Study end
Client Benefits:
- $3500 in savings
Covered costs include:
- Initial and recheck exam fees
- 4Dx
- chemistry profile (3x)
- abdominal ultrasound
- 3V thoracic radiographs (if heart murmur)
- CBC
- BP (3x)
- Urinalysis with UPC (2x)
