Probiotic Study in Dogs
OpenWe are looking for hospitals to participate in a new clinical trial for dogs with diarrhea.
Ethos Discovery is studying a novel live probiotic product that consists of 3 bacterial species typically found in the gut of healthy dogs: Clostridium hiranonis, Megamonas funiformis, and Enterococcus faecium. These bacteria were selected based on an extensive GI microbiome sequencing survey and analysis that compared differences between healthy dogs and those with GI issues. This study now seeks to evaluate the ability of this probiotic to resolve diarrhea in dogs.
Eligible patients must meet the following criteria:
- Adult dogs over the age of 1 year.
- Dogs with diarrhea of any duration. Small bowel diarrhea, large bowel diarrhea, or mixed. Purina fecal score 4-7.
- No hemorrhagic diarrhea in the previous 7 days.
- No diet change in the previous 30 days.
- No systemic antibiotics for 1 week prior to study enrollment.
- No Intestinal parasites or Giardia infection identified on screening testing.
