Not-for-profit that is redefining the veterinary research paradigm enters next phase of growth with key leadership transitions
San Diego, CA — March 10, 2026 — The Board of Directors of Ethos Discovery (Discovery), a not-for-profit that is redefining the veterinary research paradigm, is proud to announce the appointment of Tina Rice as the organization’s new President.
Rice’s appointment follows the strategic transition of founder Dr. Chand Khanna from President to Board Chair. The Board is also welcoming Nishant Jadav as its newest member. Together, these leadership shifts will strengthen Discovery’s ability to meet its mission and advance its long-term goals.
This leadership evolution comes at a pivotal time for the organization as it accelerates its growth and broadens its impact across veterinary and human health. Discovery’s mission — to improve health outcomes for humans and animals — begins with listening to practicing veterinarians and identifying the medical challenges they encounter every day. Discovery remains agnostic to the source of ideas, relying on its experienced research team to translate those insights into well-designed hypotheses and clinical studies. This approach has led to meaningful advances that are improving patient care.
Through its focus on prospective studies and its partnership with Ethos Veterinary Health, Discovery is able to conduct clinical trials across up to 140 Ethos hospitals nationwide. This reach has yielded unprecedented trial enrollments, while also providing clients with the opportunity to participate in innovative clinical trials.
Rice brings more than 25 years of nonprofit leadership experience to the role. She first joined Ethos Discovery as Executive Director after serving as Development Director at Tufts’ Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.
“It is an honor to lead this organization. The advancements we are making in veterinary and human medicine will have long-standing relevance. We are helping animals today, to better help animals and humans in the future,” said Rice.
“As one of the founders of Ethos Discovery, it is affirming to see our vision evolve into a recognized leader in veterinary scientific innovation,” said Amy Baklund. “We are pleased to welcome Tina Rice as our new President, bringing more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit leadership. Under her guidance, we will continue to advance translational research that delivers measurable improvements to patients. I’m deeply grateful to our dedicated team, research partners, and supporters who continue to help turn scientific discovery into meaningful clinical impact for animals and the people who care for them.”
Dr. Khanna’s decision to assume the role of Board Chair strengthens the Board of Directors and positions the organization for long-term sustainability, scientific leadership, and continued growth. The addition of Mr. Jadav further diversifies the strengths of the Board’s composition.
“The evolution of the Discovery Board will allow the organization to balance its impressive growth with sound strategic oversight,” added Dr. Khanna.
Mr. Nishant Jadav is a Managing Director at Citigroup, overseeing the firm’s investment banking activities across the Healthcare Services sector. Over a 25-year career on Wall Street, he has advised leading healthcare companies on a broad range of strategic and capital markets transactions. Recognized for his thought leadership, deep sector knowledge, and expertise in complex deal execution, he brings valuable insights in both human and animal healthcare to the Board of Ethos Discovery.
“I have followed Ethos Discovery for a number of years, and I am honored to join the Board of Directors to contribute towards its philanthropic mission. Throughout my career in investment banking, I have had the privilege of advising leading players in the animal health and human health sectors, and I look forward to bringing that perspective to the Discovery Board. I am excited to collaborate with my fellow Directors, Tina Rice, and the leadership of Ethos to help advance its mission and long-term strategy” said Jadav.
